Here’s where I started really using Google AI Mode in Chrome.
Note – for this post I managed to learn the difference between Gemini, Google’s AI Overview, and Google’s AI Mode.
Google search, such as it is, and Duck Duck Go search, such as that is, weren’t coming up with a lot of results that incorporated both LFS 12.3 and Ubuntu.
I started relying on AI Mode to answer very specific questions, to explain things, and eventually to suggest code.
I’m making sure I understand everything I do.
I check the code as many ways as possible before using it, including asking again in a different way or at a different time, searching, or using books, and printing things out. I am finding that maybe 25% of AI Mode’s suggested code is subtly wrong.
Still, without AI Mode acting as a personal tutor that is familiar with both LFS and Ubuntu, I don’t think I’d be able to do LFS. AI Mode turns LFS into a project that is the right level of challenge, rather than being far too advanced.
Of course I still may fail or brick.
