Well, Google AI Mode talked me out of it. Says that having used “sudo” a lot should not have affected anything other than permissions up to this point.
Once again, we’ll see.
In other news, I read a lot about stopping the jiggling icon and wound up just turning animation off in Ubuntu GUI. And resolving that during compiling etc. that I would just unplug the ethernet. One hopes that would keep it from trying to notify me about updates.
Also on AI Mode advice I checked the primary group of user lfs to make sure it was set up right and would not contain an incorrect gid=0(root).
sudo su -
id lfs
Output was:
uid=1001(lfs) gid=1001(lfs) groups=1001(lfs)
OK so I’ll continue on, I guess.
